Palm Pre-confirmed, before iPhone surprise

Engadget have set the release date for the fabled Palm Pre for the 6th of June, and at $200 US.  Actually, that is $300 US - "Pre will cost $199.99 after $100 mail-rebate and 2-year contract and will launch on June 6th as rumoured this morning."  Must be some American thing - "mail rebate".

There has been a bit of debate as to the timing of the Pre, as there has been the agreement that Apple will drop a new iPhone at WWDC.  This means the Palm Pre will have two days to impress, or maybe they wanted to get it out into the news before it is washed away in the flood of iPhone coverage.
