The restoration of old cars, furniture, boats, and anything that catches the eye and imagination is a major pasttime for many of us. I have to say, though, that as a geek I rarely get the urge to re-work an old Dell server, or re-work an ageing laptop. Technology seems to have a "here and now" quality that once surpassed, gets quickly turned into a "in the shed with the rest of the junk".
If you want to make your junk back into useable stuff, here is a How-To for you. Over at Instructables.com they have the instructions for upgrading a 1984 Macintosh to Snow Leopard, in a nice step by step format with pics. Disappointingly, the first step is open the case and throw out everything you find, but despite that, it is a good hack/project.

...if it is not Broken, I'd hang on to it. It may be worth something one day.
